Historical Sight
Harvey Milk was the first openly gay politician to be voted into public office. Castro Camera was opened in 1972 by Harvey himself. It functioned as his residence and official office. The building was a central point in the gay civil rights movement of the 1970s. Today, the former Castro Camera is a human rights campaign store where people can learn about the movements and the history of the LGBT community in San Francisco.
