My project, The Mirror, is a series of photographic images of Marina, an elderly woman who is dying of a terminal disease. The images, documentary in approach, are not just about her pain and suffering but are also meant to be a tribute to her long and fruitful life. Each time I am with her, whether with the camera or just hanging out, I see reflected in her eyes, her movements, our conversations, and her mementoes, a life fully lived. And after a succession of such visits, and a few images along the way, I have come to understand that my images have become as much about me as about her.
Hence, The Mirror.
