Latin American. Charanga Restaurant is a hip dining spot in the Mission/Bernal Heights neighborhood. The interior is modern and artistic with deep walnut colored floors, exposed brick walls, pops of color and unique artwork. The cuisine, described as Pan-Latin, encompasses the flavors of Latin America, the Caribbean and Spain, along with a few Asian influences for a truly innovative twist.
Charanga has charm, good food and its location on ever changing Mission Street is further proof of an inevitable shift that continues to transform the 16th - 24th Street area. (Remember Hayes Valley 15 years ago?)
Menu suggestions: Start with a salad or veggie dish (spicy potatoes?). Then, try the mussles (incredible) or "las gambas" (prawns). Of course don't forget the customary Sangria, Wine or Beer. All this done? Mission complete. You've pretty much guaranteed yourself a wonderful dining experience.
