Dive deep into the ultimate oyster experience! Enjoy behind-the-scenes tours and tastings at five famous West Marin oyster farms and restaurants, including Tomales Bay Oyster Company, Hog Island Oyster Company and Saltwater Oyster Depot. Sample a variety of raw, smoked, baked and barbecued oysters, learn how they're grown, and enjoy a picnic lunch on the shores of Tomales Bay. You'll be treated to gorgeous scenery, delicious food and informative commentary throughout your small-group tour, limited to seven people to ensure a more personalized experience.
Your day starts at Saltwater Oyster Depot, where you’ll enjoy pastries from Bovine Bakery and receive a brief history of West Marin’s oyster industry from your knowledgeable local guide. Then, hop in your 7-passenger van and head to five famous West Marin oyster farms and restaurants, admiring the gorgeous scenery along the way. At each place you visit, enjoy several oysters — prepared in many ways, not just raw — and take a behind-the-scenes tour to get an insider’s look at what it takes to cultivate the perfect oyster.
Your first stop is Tomales Bay Oyster Company. After your tour and oyster tastings, sit down to a lovely picnic lunch at the picnic tables overlooking the bay (see sample menu below).
Head up the road to The Marshall Store, an oyster bar and smokehouse where you’ll savor barbecued and smoked oysters. Continue along the bay to famous Hog Island Oyster Company for a tour and tasting, and then try baked oysters at Nick’s Cove, a restaurant and oyster bar a bit further up the road.
Loop back along the southern tip of Tomales Bay to Saltwater Oyster Depot, where you’ll end the day sampling a selection of baked oysters paired with wine in a beautiful waterfront setting. Bid your guide and group adieu, and take home a complimentary tote bag and magnet to commemorate your experience.
