A fine art museum representing the local, San Francisco art scene and host of the Bay Area Now Show, which highlights the best emerging artists from around the Bay Area and takes risks in showing new and upcoming artists. The Yerba Buena Center hosts cocktail parties before each new exhibit and is an easy within easy walking distance from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Located on in the Sony Metreon Center, the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts is surrounded by lush waterfalls, an open-air stage and green grass, a favored downtown spot for lounging in the sun.
Can you imagine a whole new way to see? Is it possible to break old habits and discover a new perspective on art and the world? At Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, we believe it’s not only possible, it’s essential. Ten years after our founding, the world is a vastly different place than the one that was here when this arts center emerged from the ground. A different world demands a different way of being in that world, and that’s the challenge we are taking up as we enter our second decade.
We recognize that the ambiguity inherent in today’s world demands a creative response—no more business as usual. Inspired by the big ideas, we recognized that we needed to embrace atypical points of view, uncommon structures, diverse art forms. We would be multi-inter-intra-everything.
